Ma.gnolia Suffers Major Data Loss →
I like the comments thread on this story; it’s essentially lots of data warehouse dudes given a moment in the sun, making points which generally converge on ‘DURRR…. WRST BCKUP PLCY EVRR… DUR’. I still trust the cloud.

Level complete
This morning I worked out where the little secret passage goes in the interchange between Victoria Line and Central Line at Oxford Circus. My journey to work now includes not only a detailed knowledge of where to stand on each platform in order to have the minimum distance to travel at my next change/ destination, but also an awareness of all the alternate routes during interchange, if there is a...

“deplorableword: Children’s TV artist Tony Hart dies Pretty sad news, I think...”
–  From beta. First Bagpuss, now Morph too within a few weeks. Most sad. [um, there is a picture in the post, a fact which the new dashboard doesn’t seem to want to acknowledge]

Those I've loved and lost
Bands that are in my Last.fm 12 month top 10, but not my 3 month top 10. Arcade Fire (17, previously 1) Cut Copy (21, previously 2) My Morning Jacket (11, previously 5) We Are Scientists (13, previously 6) Santogold (20, previously 7) Sigur Ros (35, previously 10) This is not really interesting except to me. But those were all very much records of my summer, which just didn’t sound...

Tumblr funding →
(via blandben) Even more than Songkick. Plus I’m sure most of Tumblr’s resource goes on scouring blogs for hot girls to add to the Tumblettes. And NONE of it goes on setting up a Tumbldudes section.

WatchWatch
I’m sort of involved (= haven’t actually done anything yet but might do soon) in a campaigning project with Channel 4 called Battlefront, which sees various young folks spending 9 months campaiging around an issue that’s important to them (they range from anti-knife crime to random acts of kindness). Anyway, most of them have made ads/ videos, some of which I really like. This...

Us: Yes.
W.E: Great, I've been asked to ask you a question.
Us: Fire away.
W.E: If someone took a photo, how fast could you print it?

Synced
I’ve spent bits of today and tonight making all of everything sync up. It’s very, very satisfying when you make it work. So, contacts in Gmail and and Mac address book and work Outlook/Blackberry are all in alignment. And, iCal and Google Calendar and Outlook/Blackberry calendar all match. And, consequently, everything is synced onto my Google Android phone. It’s a good job...

Detox remedies are a waste of money, say... →
jeanhannah: Go science, go! I often find it amazing how difficult it is to argue with people who are convinced by these kinds of stupid claims. I was recently at a lunch with a number of women who were discussing why they had given up drinking fruit smoothies because they had been persuaed that grinding the fruit up magically reduced its vitamin content (they were not citing the fact that some...

Cool. Would this make shocks impossible, or would it make it dangerous to walk around wet? I am going to order a silvery all-in-one suit, as the future is clearly NOW.
